The Surgery Teams
Office Staff
Our receptionists have a vital, but difficult task as the link between the patients and the doctors, trying to keep both sides happy. Anyone who watches them on a Monday morning will realise the difficulties involved, and still they keep smiling! They are expected to help ill and troubled patients and direct them to our surgeries as well as field telephone calls, cope with an ever-increasing load of paperwork and keep the office area generally shipshape. They do their very best to help you but you may have to modify your requests to fit in with what is possible. Please try to help them.
Practice Nurses
Nurse Fiona Little SRN SCM, Nurse Jennie Adcock SRN SCM,
Nurse Heidi French RGN SCM, Nurse Nichola Best SRN
The nurses run the treatment room and perform a wide variety of nursing activities. These include immunisations, dressings, taking blood samples, advising on minor injuries, ear syringing, and measuring blood pressure as well as giving advice on general health matters, including smoking. Our nurses also run the asthma, diabetic and new patient health check clinics. There is a nurse present from 0900 - 1900 hours each weekday; appointments are made by contacting a receptionist.
Health Care Assisstants

samples, ECG recording and urine testing. The interpretation of the
results is the responsibility of the GP.
Practice Manager
Miss Tracey Pratt our practice manager is responsible for the general management of the surgery.
The Community Team
District Nurses
District Nurses are an integral part of the primary care team. You can contact them direct at the Community Health Centre on 01884 33766 or via the practice. They can offer practical help in areas of home nursing, continence problems, leg ulcers, dressings and terminal care.
Often they work in close conjunction with other health professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists and chiropodists and members of the social services.
Health Visitors
The Health Visitors to this practice are based in the Community Health Centre along with the other community nurses, and can be contacted on 01884 33766. They are qualified nurses with special training and experience in child health, health promotion, health education and public health.
An important part of their job is with families who have young children, and they also run baby clinics in Cullompton, Uffculme, Willand, fortnightly in Bradninch and monthly in Sampford Peverell.
On Mondays there is a breastfeeding support group called Baby Cafe, run by one of the Health Visitors. On Thursdays there is a Baby Club for new mothers to get together in a relaxed environment and share the joys and problems they are experiencing.
On Fridays, one of the Nursery Nurses runs a baby massage course, which is very popular. Also at various times and venues throughout the year there are courses run called Coping With Kids.

Physiotherapist
We greatly value the services of a trained physiotherapist, who is also based at the Health Centre. The doctor or nurse may suggest that you see her, and if you wish to consult her please ask at reception. She can help and advise on any musculo-skeletal problem that has occurred, or might occur due to your workstation. She would very much like to see you to offer advice on prevention, but also gives advice and treatment on recent injuries, backs, necks, joints and sports
Injuries
Counsellor
A fully trained counsellor has joined our primary health care team. Appointments to see her may be made via a doctor or nurse.
