Clinics & Services

In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a range of clinics and healthcare services:

Asthma/COPD asthma_inhaler_5

We run a joint clinic for asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).  The clinic is run by Jennie who is trained in both asthma and COPD.  The clinics are run on Tuesday afternoons and evenings and on Wednesday evenings. Invitations are usually sent out annually for review of the condition but appointments can be made at any time if required.

Coronary Heart Disease

We run a weekly Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) clinic, usually on Thursday afternoons. Nicky, our practice nurse sees patients who have, or have had, heart problems.  They are usually seen once a year.  Nicky will monitor the heart condition, take blood pressure, pulse, and discuss lifestyle, blood results and medication. This is also a time when any related worries and concerns can be discussed.

Cervical Cytology

Invitations are sent by an outside agency with all tests undertaken by the nursing team.  Please endeavour to attend these appointments.

Diabetes

Invitations are usually sent out annually for review of the condition with a clinic held weekly, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Dressings

Our practice nursing team are able to provide a dressing service with particular skills in short stretch and four layer.

Ear Syringing

The nursing team provide an ear syringing service.  Please contact reception to book an appointment.

ECG's

As part of your clinical care a GP may advise for you to have an ECG - we provide this servicepregnant8 at the surgery by the healthcare assistant and practice nurse.

Family Planning/Contraception 

We provide a confidential family planning/contraception service in all our normal surgeries.  We have GP's and nurses trained in this area. A walk in provision for emergency contraception is available through the nursing service.  

A number of our GP's are trained to fit contraceptive coils and implants.

Influenza vaccination

The flu virus is generally a mild illness but can cause serious complications for small numbers of people, for example those over 65 or with a chronic disease.  Vaccination is the best way of protecting yourself against infection and those close to you by preventing the spread of the virus. If you think you meet the criteria for vaccination please speak to reception about booking an appointment.

The Centre - Exeter

Our maternity service consists of initial contact with a GP and further care with our midwives.  Clinics are undertaken twice a week at the practice.

Minor Surgery

All the GP's in the practice carry out minor surgery procedures.  These can be arranged by appointment with a doctor.

Smoking Cessation

We offer a referral to a smoking cessation service, for committed patients who wish to give up smoking.  For further information please ask at reception

Travel Vaccinations

Travel immunisations are available but some may incur a fee.  Please contact the surgery for a travel form and fees schedule at least 6 weeks before travelling.

 Yellow Fever

Bramblehaies Surgery is a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre and has been authorised by NaTHNaC (as the regulatory body for England, Wales and Northern Ireland), to administer yellow fever vaccine in accordance with International Health Regulations (2005).

For further information and to request vaccination please speak to a receptionist or nurse - there is a fee for this vaccination.
